Sorry for the slowness around here. Entertaining my parents. Things will be back up and running in a few days, and I will be doing a fun giveaway!

Review: Bic Soleil Savvy Disposable Razors (from BuzzAgent)
So BzzAgent is this program where you sign up, fill out a bunch of surveys, and eventually they send you sample products to review. They say review, but they really seem to want you to promote them. They send you coupons to give your friends, which is cool, but they also want you to post on Facebook about how awesome the product is, etc., and that’s not really my style. Because they insist that what they really want is honesty, so I will happily give a review of the razors they sent me. If that’s not sufficient for them to send me more stuff in the future, so be it!

Your Claws: A $2 Flakie!
I recently got a sizable order from e.l.f., and one of the best things in it was a nail polish called “Fairy Dust”. Now, I don’t know if there is anyone else left out there like me, who looks longingly at Essie Shine of the Times periodically, but is always too fucking cheap to buy it. But if there is, our cheapness has finally paid off!
e.l.f. now has a beautiful flakie for just $2. It’s great. It has the usual red-orange-gold-green shift of colors. Here are some swatches, with only 1 coat of Fairy Dust over a few colors:

Clean Up: My Skincare Routine
By no means do I have perfect skin, but I’ve settled on a routine that keeps things under control most of the time. Some of the things I use are really cheap as fuck, others aren’t, but nothing is expensive as fuck. Note that I have oily skin that’s prone to breakouts and blackheads, but not extreme acne. So if you have a similar skin type, you might want to try some of this out. It might not work for you, but it works for me.

Fix Your Face: Everyday Minerals (Free Shit)
If you’ve never tried mineral makeup (or even if you have), check this out. Everyday Minerals lets you order 7 free samples and just pay for shipping, which is usually less than $3. The samples are decently sized (at least they were last time I got some) and last me for months! This is some good shit right here. Right now they are offering base (i.e. foundation), blush, and finishing powder samples.
If you want to be really nice, you can pay a little extra and all of the money you put in will go to the Everyday Minerals Wilderness Preservation Plan.
UPDATE: I just got some samples in the mail. They no longer send you the little jars that they used to send, so I think the sample size is smaller now, fyi. Still pretty good, though.

ASOS put a bunch more shit on sale
So I added some cool things to the Pinterest board. Including some non-terrifying clothes and even some really cute plus-size stuff!
(ASOS is not paying me to do this. Imaginary shopping is just one of my preferred methods of procrastination.)
ASOS put a bunch more shit on sale
I just got the perfect 90s blue nail polish.
It’s Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in “Freeze!”. It’s a new one, and I got it at CVS for $4.99. I can’t find it for sale online anywhere, nor can I find swatches yet! I will update with a photo soon. But trust me. This is exactly what I coveted when I was 15 years old. Bright and glittery and primary. Drool.

Is BB Cream just trendy tinted moisturizer?
In some cases, apparently, yes. The new Covergirl “BB Cream” is exactly the same as their CGSmoothers Tinted Moisturizer. Exact same ingredients list, new name. So watch out.

Dress Yourself: ASOS Clearance/Sale Accessories
Almost all of the clothing ASOS sells is a little too … let’s go with “young”, for me. They do, however, have awesome and crazy shoes, bags, and other accessories. They also have really great clearance/sale prices.
Here is a photo of a purse I bought from them last year for $35, to match my cat:
Okay, it was a coincidence, but it’s a nice fucking purse, right?
They also have free shipping both ways, which is great. Worth checking out.
Here’s a link to a Pinterest board I made with a few cool things under $15.

Fix Your Face: e.l.f. Studio Eyebrow Kit

I wasn’t there to research makeup, but I definitely put this shit to the test. I have practically invisible eyebrows, so I look like I have more of a face if I draw them in. I could never get eyebrow pencil to not look weird on me, though. This stuff is really easy to use. Just sort of comb the waxy stuff through your brows, and then swipe the powder over it to set it. I used this every day during a crazy heat wave in Rome, through several hours in the sun, soaked in disgusting sweat, and I still had eyebrows when I got home at the end of the day. It’s good stuff. And only $3.
I use the light shade, and it looks great whether I have blonde or red hair. Somehow it just seems to coordinate and look natural.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but if you order stuff from the e.l.f. website, there’s almost always some crazy sale/bonus offer going on, in addition to free shipping.

Julep fail
So I got the Julep Box I posted about recently, and I think it was a mistake. I’m not going to be buying any more from them.
The America glitter is pretty cool, but it’s super thick and goopy. Hard to put on, and feels like shit on your nails. The Kate shade, which is pearly white, is as blah as I expected. The Daphne (sea foam green) shade, looks nothing like the photo. Or I mean, it’s green, but it’s much darker and dustier than the photo. I understand that monitors can be calibrated differently, but they also sent me a little slip with instructions for a manicure using this color, and putting the printed photo next to the bottle shows that the photo isn’t right at all. So annoying. I haven’t tried Mila (charcoal, multi-colored glitter) yet, but it also doesn’t look like the photo. It basically looks like silver with a little holo or color, not charcoal.
So anyway, won’t be giving Julep my money again. (I was just as disappointed with my intro box.)
ETA: Okay, I just swatched these, and yes, all of the above stands. Daphne is not “bright” or minty, like it looks in the photo. Mila is in no way “charcoal”. It actually seems like the people who write the product descriptions do so based on the photos, rather than by looking at the actual products, so you end up with both inaccurate photos and inaccurate descriptions.
