Nouveau Cheap reviewed the Revlon Matte Balms and had much better results than I did

Check out her review. The three she picked up don't include either of the ones I tried (here and here). Maybe I just chose wrong? Standout does look like a much nicer red, but since the tube is (misleadingly) brick red in color, I didn't even consider it. It looks like I probably wouldn't be a fan of Showy, though.

Anyway, I thought that'd add a nice counterpoint/additional info to my reviews, for those who are still interested in these lipsticks.

Looks like Sally Hansen has another option if you want to do your own speckled nails thing. They should be between $2-4. Some of the other glitters in the collection look pretty cool too.

Temptalia and Nouveau Cheap's Weekly Beauty Sales Posts

I frequently post links to beauty sales that I think are particularly good, but I don't post them all. Sometimes I think things are just too expensive, even on sale, or I don't particularly like a specific brand.

If you want to keep up with what's going on everywhere, though, a couple of good resources are Temptalia's sales posts each week (like this one), which tend to cover high-end brands, and Nouveau Cheap's (like this one), which tend to be limited to drugstore sales.

Big fucking makeup clearance sale at CVS (50-75% off)

All of the things I got today were under $2.50 each. In fact, only two things were over $2 (the Revlon eyeliner and the Sally Hansen nail polish). Look at this shit:

THIS IS IMPORTANT: These things may not be marked down on the shelf. In fact, not a single one of the things I bought was labeled as clearance. And some things are marked down at some stores but not others. So you're going to have to take stuff to the scanner box thingy and check the price if you want to avoid surprises.

I have never been able to figure out what makes the Naked palette worth $50, even though everyone raves about it. Great neutrals are available all over the place for cheap.
