Illlamasqua is on HauteLook today (bigger selection than usual and 50%+ off)

Disclosure: This post contains a referral link.
Looks like a good sale. All sort of lipsticks, cream pigments, nail polishes, etc., starting at about $7.50. Some things are already sold out, so you might have to make up your mind soon.

"Makeup Mayhem" on HauteLook this week (50%+ off Tarina Tarantino, Illamasqua, theBalm, LORAC, etc.)

Disclosure: This post contains referral links.
So this week HauteLook is having their big makeup feature. Most things look like they are 50% off or more. We've got BH Cosmetics (meh), Tarina Tarantino (good lipstick, eyeliner, and eyeshadow - avoid the "eye dream hyperlight" for its horrible packaging) - and later this week LORAC (Wednesday), Illamasqua (Thursday), and theBalm (Friday). I've bought all of my theBalm makeup through HauteLook, since it's always been at least 50% off. They tend to have a wide selection including most of their new products. This is also one of the only places Illamasqua is currently sold in North America, unless I am mistaken and they've returned to some other stores recently.

You have to take into account the shipping costs (usually about $6 for beauty stuff) and the long shipping time (2-3 weeks). Obviously your shipping will go farthest if you buy multiple things at once, so if you want to shop more than one brand, it might be worth waiting until they are both available at the same time. Usually each brand stays on the site for about 4 days, but some of the most popular items might sell out.

I don't need anything right now, so I'm not looking too closely. Normally I would be all over this. Think of me if you get something good? I will post reminders about Illamasqua and theBalm, because I am grading this week, and blogging is an excellent form of procrastination.

You need an account to browse HauteLook, so I've included my referral link above, but you are of course not obligated to click it.

Illamasqua is on HauteLook today (nail polishes for $7.50, lipsticks, glosses, and eyeliners for $12)

Disclosure: This post contains a referral link.
Unless things have changed recently, Illamasqua is no longer being sold in the US outside of ebay - and sales like this one on HauteLook. Last time the showed up on HL, things sold out pretty fucking fast, so you might want to get on that. I don't have any Illamasqua stuff personally, because it's pricey, but there are some major fans out there. The beloved Raindrops nail polish is included in the sale. I'm tempted, despite my anti-hoarding plans.

I've said this before, but the upside of HL are the prices, obviously. I've ordered tons of things from them with no problems - they're not particularly shady, since they're affiliated with Nordstrom. The downside is that your stuff will take weeks to ship. So don't order anything you want immediately.

You need an account to browse or buy, so here's my link, if you want to use it.

(And if you're going to buy something anyway, you should add the Chella pencil sharpener from $2.50 to your order. I got mine form Birchbox, and it's the best sharpener I have ever used. Even sharpens fat lip pencils without making a mess!)

DIY cheap dupes for speckled nail polish (like Illamasqua, Deborah Lippmann, Hard Candy, etc.)

DIY cheap dupes for speckled nail polish
You can easily make your own versions of the Illamasqua Speckled polishes ($17), the Deborah Lippmann Staccato polishes ($19), the Hard Candy Candied Color polishes ($4), or the Maybelline Polka Dots polishes ($4).

The last two aren't especially expensive, but this way you can have almost as many speckled polish options as you already have bottles of nail polish for about $4. I know this isn't that mind-blowing an idea (and I'm not the only person to think of it), but maybe it hadn't occurred to you. All you have to do is buy one bottle of black glitter nail polish, and you can have ALL THE SPECKLED NAILS. I mean, this is a trend that we are all probably going to be bored with a year from now, so you might as well get the most out of it for the lowest possible investment right now. Also, this is a great use for those polishes you have which are really fucking sheer and annoying to use without globbing on 6 coats. They're perfect for this technique.

Big Illamasqua Sale

Illamasqua has a big sale on their website right now, with polishes and makeup around 50% off or more, so you can get $24 nail polish for $8, for instance.

I'm going to pass, because I have too many untried bottles of brand new polish in my collection already, but if you've wanted to try out this fancy shit, maybe now is the time. The catch is that shipping to the US is around $13, so it's maybe not worth it unless you were planning to buy a whole bunch of stuff to begin with.

(I have always pronounced this company's name like, "Llama-squama" in my head. It was only when I had to type it out that I bothered to actually figure out what it was. Oops. I'm not very sophisticated, I guess.)
