In June's Glam Bag, they included NYX blushes. I was pretty excited about that, because when I complained about not being impressed with NYX, many of you recommended the blushes.

However, when I got my bag and saw that they had sent me a sort of terracotta-colored cream blush called Tea Rose . . . womp womp. I have never been able to get orangey makeup to work on me. I've tried orange lip colors, and they make me look sickly. And brownish blush? What is this, 1996? I'm down with pink, mauve, rose, red, and magenta blushes, but I shy away from orange and brown.

But of course I tried it anyway.

And I was impressed! It turns out that it was really flattering on me. Maybe it's because I'm (currently) a redhead - I don't know. But it gives me some natural-looking, healthy color. It's not a rosy or flushed look, it just does away with my usually washed-out complexion.

As for application and wear, I have no complaints. I always apply cream blush just with my fingers: dab dab dab blend. It's easy and quick and I don't need to clean a brush. It wore as long as I needed it too. I didn't notice any fading at the end of the day.

In the end this isn't so much an endorsement of this particular blush (though it's a good one), as a reminder to step outside your comfort zone. Try new things - especially if you can buy them somewhere with a good return policy!
