If you have either the Nourish Organics Face Cream or the Nourish Organics Face Lotion, check the UPC, because they may contain mold. More info from Wegmans here.

ETA: The samples Ipsy sent out a while back are apparently fine; it's just the 1.7 oz containers that are a problem. Good thing, because I used my sample a few months ago. I'm glad it wasn't contaminated.
I laughed out loud when I saw the title. Not because I disagree, but because you sound so exasperated. I totally agree that skin care products need preservatives, especially if said products contain high levels of natural ingredients, as those make perfect breading grounds for molds and bacteria. Have you ever seen mold in vaseline or mineral oil? I'm not making claim for "natural" or "unnatural" ingredients, just making a point that natural ingredients are more prone to contamination, and therefore need preservatives.
ReplyDeleteYes, anything with much water, any water really, needs preservatives. That's more the issue than the natural/synthetic thing. You have have a lip balm that's all "natural": beeswax, lanolin, and some kind of vegetable oil/butter or whatever, it will last fine. But you need water for lotion, so you need effective preservatives.
DeleteGood point about water content. I didn't think of that.
DeleteI agree. This whole natural thing is getting out of hand. If I see a product that is completely natural, I will walk away cause I know the shelf life is highly limited for the high price tag. I have one all natural product that was given to me and i keep it in the fridge after reading that some people ended up with mold in theirs. So far the fridge has kept it safe. But out side that the rest of my face shit is protected with preservatives!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. And this stuff had mold in it before it even left the stores! I'll talk parabens, thank you very much. :)
DeleteThe mold is just a GWP! (Also yes, I'm a fan of preservatives in things that go on my face)
ReplyDeleteOf course! I didn't think of that. After all, mold is natural, so it must be good for your skin!
