"Nice Girls Who Like Stuff": Analysis of beauty vloggers and their business models (from The Hairpin)

This is an interesting article that I meant to link to months ago and just found in my drafts folder. It talks about the inoffensive homogeneity that defines the most popular YouTube beauty gurus and how they perfect that formula to make big, big bucks (or big truckloads of free swag).

Seems especially pertinent now with the news that Zoella's book is breaking records for sales.

  2. I remember reading that a while back and thinking it was a good article. People be getting snippy in the comments about the "covert Christian" thing though! (I took that part as a comment on the bloggers trying hard to be inoffensive, not a dig at Christianity.)

    1. Yes, I agree. I think that it meant that the vloggers are Christian, but not in-your-face Christian, which fits in with the whole inoffensive, bland, likable persona. Not offensive to Christians and not offensive to non-Christians.
