The Internet lied to us, everyone. Well, that would explain why Luminoso, supposedly a dupe for the "universally flattering" Orgasm, looks dreadful on me.
I'll stick with my Wet N Wild Pearlescent Pink. It's probably not an exact dupe either, but it's at least pink.
Pearlescent Pink 4ever.
ReplyDeleteFuck yeah!
DeleteI don't think the internet lied so much as it became confused. Milani Mineral Blush in Luminous was a reasonable dupe for NARS Orgasm (see here: http://www.lipglossiping.com/2010/01/nars-orgasm-vs-milani-luminous-swatches/). Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso, on the other hand, has a super similar name and also has some gold shimmer (hence Nouveau Cheap describing it as "in the same vein" as Orgasm), which may have encouraged some confusion about which was being touted as an Orgasm dupe.
ReplyDeleteA quick (and unscientific) Google comparison shows that "milani mineral blush luminous orgasm" gets about 38,000 hits while "milani baked blush luminoso orgasm" gets only 8500. So, my hunch is that after Luminous was discontinued, some people kept seeing the references to it online and thought it was referring to Luminoso and since Luminoso was similar enough (in shimmer) to be compared to Orgasm in some reviews anyway, it eventually it started being referred to as "the" Milani Orgasm dupe.
Nice investigative work! Thanks. The Google thing is interesting. I have repeatedly seen Luminoso called a dupe, but never Luminous (until I read the comments on the post I linked). But yes, I agree that it's probably a confusion over the name. Since now the word about Luminoso is spreading, this was useful information for me.
DeleteUnpopular opinion time:
ReplyDeleteI've found NARS blushes to be meh. They mostly get attention for their names. If you want to throw down some cash on a NARS product, go with the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteLuminoso isn't the correct dupe for NARS Orgasm, it was actually Luminous, which got discontinued and replaced by Luminoso Baked Bronzer. I know this was posted last year, and I'm here finding it now. But there are so many people that are upset once they find out the Milani's Luminoso isn't a dupe for NARS beloved blush. When they've been purchasing the wrong blush, while the exact dupe is no longer available in stores. :(
Yep, that's what this post says.
DeleteMilani Luminoso is more like NARS Fame.
