Fix Your Face: Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel

Yeah, you read that right. This stuff works really well for its intended purpose, but it also makes an excellent primer for your face. In fact, its ingredients are almost identical to Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, but it usually costs less than $7. Natalie Dee has a detailed comparison of the formulas, so check it out.

Here are some frighteningly close up photos of my skin (cheek near my nose) before and after using the Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel as primer.

Bare skin (no primer or makeup):


With just the Monistat gel as primer. The photo isn’t more blurry - that’s what the primer does. Sort of softens everything up and makes it more matte and smooth:


With a little concealer and pressed powder on top of the primer:


So there you go. I don’t always use primer on my face, but when I do, this works just great.
