Makeup Withdrawal compares Wet N Wild Take on the Day Mattifying Powder to Nars Light Reflecting Powder and finds them to be pretty close.
I actually bought that Nars powder a while back when I won a gift card and wanted to use it on some kind of product that I didn't think I could find in a cheaper version. I guess I should have waited! Or gone with one of the Hourglass powders. (By the way, I still stand by what I said in this post: I think finishing powders can add a little something, but they are subtle and not crucial. I don't really notice when I forget to use one. But now there are more cheap options, so the cost/benefit aspect is a little different.)

Makeup Withdrawal reviews the shadiness that is Sephora's VIP Rouge program
I don't have this "status" with Sephora, as a cheapo, but I think it's always good to pass along information about shitty business practices.

Makeup Withdrawal's guide to drugstore coupon shopping
I don't own a car, and I live in a smallish city where public transit is not fantastic, so I don't do a lot of shopping in places that are beyond walking distance. It's just not a good use of my time to be on the bus for half an hour each way to go to Target. I'm putting together my own post with advice for online shopping, slowly, and it'll appear here one of these days.
But in the meantime, if you are a normal person who shops at normal stores, you should check out these tips:

"It's gotten to the point where I don't really pay much (or if I'm really good, I don't pay anything!) for ordinary personal care items like toothpaste and mouthwash or household items like cleaning supplies. [...] Naturally, extending it to cosmetics was a no brainer so though I'm on a low buy, it's really easy to still get new products without spending very much or at all."Sounds good to me!

Cheap sulfur mask for acne (from Makeup Withdrawal)
If, like me, benzoyl peroxide does nothing for your zits, and, unlike me, neither does tea tree oil, another option is sulfur. Skip the overpriced Mario Badescu shit, and try this $4 version that Makeup Withdrawal reviewed.
I'll stick with my tea tree oil, since it works great for me, but everyone's skin is different. You just have to figure out what works for you.
