It may be paranoia (especially since I'm fine with actually using facial oils), but my skin is finicky lately.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02075243940219740263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4241080681767360438.post-66057562191408273992015-07-08T08:51:00.129-07:002015-07-08T08:51:00.129-07:00That's a good point. The bi-phase is oil+water+cleanser in some form, so it should be the same basic thing!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02075243940219740263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4241080681767360438.post-83444189366745533782015-07-07T21:36:51.396-07:002015-07-07T21:36:51.396-07:00I've been oil cleansing for a long time, but n...I've been oil cleansing for a long time, but not OCM - oil-based cleansers like DHC. (Except not DHC, other ones. You know what I mean.) Personally I think OCM is too fussy for me to do on a daily basis... I like oil-based cleansers because they emulsify and rinse away pretty cleanly once water is added. Minimal fuss! That makes me think that I'm about to faint, when I'm perfectly fine.

I think my method counts as double cleansing, but I just use a normal cleanser to emulsify the oil off my face. Can't be bothered with that hot towel nonsense. I'm not sure I see any skin improvements, but it's a heck lot cheaper and more effective than a lot of biphase make up removers I'm using. I don't tend to do a lot of massaging (mainly because I don't love the strong fragrance in that Garnier oil), but it's still twice as thorough in general. And yeah, my skin doesn't love the leftover oil residue either, so it has to go!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02075243940219740263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4241080681767360438.post-52131973493807506342015-07-01T15:04:14.194-07:002015-07-01T15:04:14.194-07:00Oil cleansing was important when I used to wear wa...Oil cleansing was important when I used to wear waterproof, super-matte, full coverage foundations. With lighter base, it's not really necessary. I didn't go the full OCM but found using oil was great because I took the time to massage the skin, which I feel is more beneficial than the actual oil. I used to double cleanse because (a) use oil to remove all makeup + (b) use cleanser to remove all oil, and even now if I just use only oil cleanser (like Shu Uemura), I tend to break out a bit more than usual. Now I just double cleanse with my Neutrogena or Marcelle gel/cream cleanser and usually skip the oil unless I wear something heavier or want expand the effort for a massage/facial.

I do have to say though: nothing beats an oily bi-phase makeup remover for stubborn eye makeup.
